Tanjung Lesung has a total land area of 1500 hectares in the form of a natural peninsula with extensive ocean frontage and attractive beaches. As the location is within 3 hours drive from Jakarta it was planned from the outset to create a completely new integrated resort as a destination for both domestic and international tourists, but with emphasis on the former in the early years of development.

Masterplanning for the project involved many international consultants with Klages Carter Vail of California taking the lead role. Great care has been taken in protection of the environment with sensitive design guidelines for buildings and landscaping. Exacting standards are followed for water treatment and waste disposal within a comprehensive modern infrastructure. BWJ is a responsible developer that willingly contributes and participates in the welfare of the local community. This means assistance with and investment in education, health, housing, training and employment.

Tanjung Lesung is planned as a fully integrated beach resort that will be developed over the next 15 - 20 years.
