SOUTH TANGERANG, 14 JUNE 2024 – TOURIST ACTIVITIES to get health services or health tourism are not strange to Indonesians. Indonesia has lost a lot of foreign exchange because many Indonesians choose to seek medical treatment and travel abroad, such as to Malaysia and Singapore.
Data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkes RI) in 2021 shows that Indonesia is the largest contributor in terms of medical visits abroad with a total expenditure of Rp161 trillion. Therefore, the Government of Indonesia has now made health tourism one of the main focuses of tourism development. The Indonesian Ministry of Health has appointed several hospitals to organize medical tourism in the country.
The good news is that now Indonesians may no longer need to go abroad to get health care. Yes, Indonesians can enjoy quality health services in the country after the presence of a collaboration between Premier Bintaro Hospital (RS) and Tanjung Lesung Tourism Special Economic Zone (SEZ) which was carried out last Friday (14/6/2024).
Yes, in this collaboration, Tanjung Lesung SEZ will provide special tour packages for patients, whether it is land sports, aero sports, or water sports. In addition, Tanjung Lesung SEZ will also provide accommodation as well as a venue for activities for patients at Premier Bintaro Hospital.
Currently, Tanjung Lesung SEZ is known as the biggest playground closest to Jakarta with an area of 1,500 hectares. Tanjung Lesung SEZ has four beaches that can be visited, namely Lalassa Beach, Tanjung Lesung Beach Hotel & Resort Beach, Bodur Beach and Ladda Beach.
In addition, Poernomo Siswoprasetijo the President Director of Tanjung Lesung, explained, Tanjung Lesung SEZ not only has a beautiful beach for tourists but also has 25 exciting activities, including swimming on a clear beach, enjoying the sunrise and sunset with the background of Mount Krakatau Children, snorkeling, diving, playing jet skiing, riding a stand-up paddle board, or traveling around the area by bicycle or electric bike, or witness the panorama of Mount Krakatau with Cessna 152 & 172 aircraft. With many exciting activities, both on water and land, Tanjung Lesung SEZ has received a nickname from tourists as the Paradise of Water Sport & Marine Tourism in Banten.
Meanwhile, for accommodation, Tanjung Lesung SEZ provides various options, namely Tanjung Lesung Hotel & Resort, Villa Kalicaa, Ladda Bay Village homestay, Lallasa Container Inn, and Camping Camp
“This collaboration can already run, we are ready to serve as a resort that offers health tourism,” said Poernomo Siswoprasetijo.
Poernomo – as he is familiarly called – added that he is optimistic that Indonesia can also become a medical tourism destination for foreigners and Indonesians who go abroad for treatment. Because the health services of hospitals in Jakarta and its surroundings are qualified and the competence of the doctors is not inferior to foreign hospitals.
One of them is Premier Bintaro Hospital a well-known private hospital in South Tangerang that has been known for its one-stop services and specialized clinics, such as comprehensive services in overcoming heart, spine, and sports injuries for athletes and the general public. Even the Mayor of South Tangerang, Drs. H. Benyamin Davnie, said that in South Tangerang there are 29 private hospitals of which 3 government hospitals, and Premier Bintaro Hospital are the leaders of all the best services in health services.
dr. Martha M.L. Siahaan, SH, MARS, MHKes Director of Premier Bintaro Hospital hopes that the cooperation between Premier Bintaro Hospital and Tanjung Lesung will bring positive synergy to each other. The collaboration aims to support health tourism in the Banten region and is in line with increasing public awareness that the ability of doctors and the quality of hospital services in Indonesia are not inferior when compared to abroad, and it is a special attraction when collaborating with the wealth of tourism in Banten.
“It is time for the nation itself to believe in the ability of doctors and health workers in the country,” said dr. Martha M.L Siahaan.
Further, dr. Martha M.L Siahaan said that the Indonesian people need to know the beauty of Tanjung Lesung which is not inferior to Bali, Jogja, and Lake Toba. Tanjung Lesung has a diverse tourism charm, namely the natural beauty of the beach, the diversity of flora and fauna, and exotic cultural richness, such as the unique Baduy village, Ujung Kulon National Park, and Mount Krakatau and other island tourism.
“I think people already know Bali, Jogja, and Lake Toba, but I think we need to start providing space (opportunity) for Tanjung Lesung to have a name as great as Bali and its surroundings. Therefore, our country is not only known for Bali, Jogja, Lake Toba. But also because there are tourist areas in Banten Province that we should be proud of,” said dr. Martha M.L. Siahaan.
The cooperation between Premier Bintaro Hospital and Tanjung Lesung is also supported by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, the South Tangerang City Government, and the South Tangerang City Tourism Office. The reason, according to the Director of Health Service Governance of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, dr. Sunarto, an important element of a health tourism ecosystem that can run well has been fulfilled, namely the presence of cooperation between hospitals and tourist areas.
Poernomo said that the Tanjung Lesung SEZ has now become a destination for foreign and regional tourists – especially in West Java and East Java – to become a destination to relieve stress and those who have health problems. This can happen, admitted Poernomo, because the atmosphere and scenery of Tanjung Lesung can make the body and mind relax. So that the treatment is faster and can run well.
“With the presence of this collaboration, patients in areas in Indonesia such as Medan, no longer need to go abroad. Now it is enough to fly (take a plane) to Jakarta, receive treatment at Premier Bintaro Hospital comprehensively and holistically, then continue to travel to Tanjung Lesung,” concluded Poernomo.
