JAKARTA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) believes that the construction of the 83.6-kilometer Serang–Panimbang Toll Road will also attract investment inflows to the Tanjung Lesung tourist area, Banten.
Joko Widodo as President of the Republic of Indonesia believes that the construction of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road will not only develop the Tanjung Lesung-Banten Special Economic Zone (SEZ) but also attract investment flows. Therefore, he continues to push for the completion of the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road.
“Automatically there is investment optimism to immediately complete Tanjung Lesung. It’s a chicken and an egg, if there’s no way, it’s because investors are thinking about it, because from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung it needs to be fast,” said President Jokowi after inaugurating the Serang-Panimbang Toll Road Section 1 of the Serang-Rangkasbitung section, last Tuesday (16/11).
President Jokowi said that if all sections of the Serang–Panimbang toll road were completed, the travel time from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung would only take 1.5–2 hours, faster than the current 4–5 hours. That way, Tanjung Lesung will become an alternative tourist destination close to Jakarta, in addition to the Puncak area, Bogor, West Java.
President Joko Widodo also explained that when all sections of the Serang-Panimbang toll road are completed, it will cut the travel time from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung, which is 1.5 – 2 hours. The current travel time from Jakarta to Tanjung Lesung is 4-5 hours.
Further, Tanjung Lesung will become an alternative tourist destination close to Jakarta, in addition to the Puncak-Bogor area, West Java.
“A maximum of 2 hours, so it will be an alternative not only to the top, but also to Tanjung Lesung,” said President Jokowi.
The President also targets that all sections of the Serang–Panimbang toll road will be completed by the end of 2023. The completion of Section 1 of the Serang–Rangkasbitung toll road is expected to reduce congestion that often occurs in Lebak and Pandeglang Regencies.
“Now we hope that the traffic jams in Lebak, Pandeglang, Serang can be resolved,” said President Jokowi.
During the event, the Governor of Banten, Wahidin Halim, at the inauguration, explained that the Serang–Panimbang Toll Road will provide extraordinary benefits for the people of Banten.
Further explaining, there was a request from the regional head and also the people of Banten to speed up the process of building the Serang–Panimbang Toll Road for Section 3 of the 33 km Cileles–Panimbang toll road. “So people’s expectations can be realized,” he concluded.
